LiDAR Technical Trainee - R&D Development

The Lidar Department of the Valeo R&D Center in Prague is developing the flagship among our sensors: the Valeo SCALA® lidar is the first and still the only mass-produced automotive laser sensor on the market. It can detect obstacles on the road up to a distance of 200 meters and classify them in all weather conditions. It is used by carmakers for their most advanced models such as the Mercedes S-Class, Audi A8 or Honda Legend. Up to 30% of new premium vehicles are to reach level 3 of autonomous driving by 2030, and to do so, they will have to be equipped with lidar technology. We develop hardware, software, optics, mechanical construction, execute system testing and industrialization of this product.

We are looking for a part-time student for the position of LiDAR Technical Trainee in our R&D Center in Prague. As a trainee you will be linked to our team of software and system engineers in the LiDAR team.

YOUR CHALLENGES?

• Define and develop functions of our smart LIDAR products
• Supporting the product development from customer requirements to a functional Lidar product
• Cooperate with SW developers to develop the needed features
• Define/develop validation methods for specified function
• Analyze results of function validation and develop function further based on the results
• Perform engineering assessment of proposed change requests

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU...

• A student in the 3rd year of a Bachelor's program or currently pursuing a Master's degree at a Technical University, specializing in Cybernetics, Robotics, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, System Engineering, or a related field
• Practical experience in software or embedded development gained through academic or personal projects
• Good level of English to communicate within international teams
• Proactive, quality oriented engineering attitude and team spirit
• Programming skills (Python, C/C++)
• Good understanding of mathematical principles
